LULAC is the oldest and largest membership based organization with councils in many states. But, we lack the oversight and training for state treasurers to ensure overall success.
Treasurer Gonzales proposes a Treasurer's academy in order to train and equip candidates to serve in LULAC who will follow Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). In order for us to accurately report our work nationwide we must have our states following the same protocols regarding financial reporting. As we see all the states reporting together we will be eligible for more funding at all levels.

grant program
Treasurer Gonzales has unique experience with the IRS in running the VITA program
VITA is an opportunity for each state to get funding to train volunteers to do taxes. Tax preparers are always in demand and that allows us to give job training to the volunteers. Also it allows us to perform taxes in each state by getting a grant from the IRS.

Everyone who attends the academy will be at the table together. State & District treasurers coming together on a nationwide scale to learn the requirements in order to ensure Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) standards are being practiced at all levels of LULAC.
Retro
opportunity
Treasurer Gonzales has been an advocate for grass roots funding to local councils. This year we came up with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for members to do fundraising and earn commission; 10% on every corporate dollar you bring to National LULAC. The MOU is attached for review.
(employees of LULAC not eligible, non members not eligible)
Every LULAC member who wants to work on fundraising
will have an opportunity to join the Fundraising committee and learn how to bring corporate sponsors to LULAC National, your state, and earn commission.
